Casa Sherwood Forest

We are expanding into a new Neighborhood

We have decided to open our third location in a new neighborhood known as Sherwood Forest. It is located in the heart of Las Vegas, just west of Commercial Center. As we have worked with the administration at the elementary school our Casa Naked City kids attend, they kept pointing us to the Sherwood area. Here is what Megan Wachtler, School Counselor at Park ES, had to say,

“ The need in that neighborhood is huge! There is lots of violence, food scarcity, and domestic instability. In the fall, we had a family who experienced a shooting and all 8 kids were removed - both from Park and Fremont. It's a transient neighborhood, and I believe more dangerous than the area behind Strat (that might be due to your presence over there). Many kids over there live in a "bubble" - they've never seen snow, they don't leave the neighborhood on weekends, they run the streets, etc. When we came back from quarantine, kids from that neighborhood specifically were getting in fights on the playground. Right before the fights, you could see kids throwing gang signs at one another. This was due to lack of parental supervision during quarantine, and the kids were getting raised by the streets. They desperately need an organization to assist with after school activities, clothing drives, tutoring, and overall general support for the families.”

We prayed, planned, and answered the call to this new neighborhood. Starting in the summer of 2022, we will be launching a youth center in this area. We will continue to pursue our mission of, Bringing light, love, and hope to our neighbors as we build relationships with the families in this community.
